The Hubble Space Telescope has floated 360 miles above the Earth for nearly eighteen years. Designed to look into the deepest regions of space, the Hubble Space Telescope was named after Edwin Hubble, the first astronomer to show evidence of an expanding universe which gave rise to the Big Bang Theory. After orbiting the Earth roughly 100,000 times in its life, the Hubble Space Telescope is due for another set of repairs. NASA has planned multiple spacewalks to install new gyroscopes, batteries, powerful cameras and replacement circuit boards in order to boost the Hubble's visible power up to 90x greater than its original design. With the enhanced instruments, the Hubble Space Telescope is expected to be able to peer at objects revealing light as old as the universe's first 400 million years.
