After looking at the behavior of the numbers in aggregate, the occurrence of numbers respective to their position was analyzed. On this page, you will find an analysis of the most frequently winning numbers for the second position. While the available data is provided in the order they were drawn, this analysis was performed with the numbers sorted in increasing order such that it would be possible to stratify them. This is not a problem as lottery numbers are not a permutation and therefore order does not matter in mathematical combinatorics. As such, this positional analysis focused on how the numbers fit within their sorted, stratified position.

This historical analysis spans the current MegaMillions configuration with 492 drawings spanning from June 24, 2005 through the drawing on March 9, 2010. Herein, the five most winning numbers for the second position are arranged sequentially for your speculation. Whenever a number's frequency of appearance sets it outside of the norm (90% confidence interval), it's standard of deviation is included in the analysis.

NOTE: Remember, the historical occurence of numbers is NO GUARANTEE of continued performance or future occurence. The mathematical odds of winning the MegaMillion jackpot are still 1 in 21,085,384,320.
